Here are some frequently asked questions that may not be covered by the documentation.

How long does it take to provision each service provided by ServiceFabric?#

This can vary from resource to resource.

For Ports/PortGroups: After the resource has been created in ServiceFabric, a remote hands ticket including an LOA/s for the create port/s would need to be submitted and has an SLA of 15 days.

For Links(L2) and Connections(L3): It can take up to 15 minutes but is typically shorter.

How do I find my resource ID for my services?#

To view the Resource ID:

  1. Click on the inventory tab in the ServiceFabric portal,
  2. Click on the specific item in the list that you are interested in.
  3. This will show the edit slide-out.
  4. The Resource ID is toward the top of the dialog.
How do I find the resource ID for any service?#

What’s the difference between a port resource ID and a connection resource ID?#

Both the Port resource ID and a Connection resource ID are both UUIDs, however they reference different resource instances.

What are minimum and maximum bandwidths/speeds available assuming support by the service provider?#

Links and Connections support the following speed configurations:

  • 50 Mbps
  • 100 Mbps
  • 200 Mbps
  • 300 Mbps
  • 400 Mbps
  • 500 Mbps
  • 1 Gbps
  • 2 Gbps
  • 2.5 Gbps
  • 5 Gbps
  • 10 Gbps
  • 100 Gbps
What are the supported MTU values?#

Minimum MTU should be 1500 (Maximum customer MTU 9000 or 9100)

When will my order be ready?#

In most cases, a newly created service should be provisioned and ready for use in less than five minutes.

Can I upgrade my connection?#

Depending on the connection type, you may be able to update the configured speed and/or vlan the connection.

Some cloud providers have restrictions:

  • Connections to Amazon AWS do not support updating speed.
  • Connections to Microsoft Azure only support increasing the speed.
Was Cloud Service Provider up at X time?#

Information about the historical status of a resource can be found in either the Metrics Tab or in the Audit Log.

What is a peering location?#

A peering location is a site where a service provider has established a physical presence and is accepting connectivity.

In general, the peering location that is physically closest to the site where a customer has a ServiceFabric port will provide the highest performance at lowest cost, however other considerations may impact the choice of peering location including where a destination workload is deployed, or different services available through different peering locations

Where can I find my service key?#

You may view a service key under the details for a port which has had a service key created.

What is a virtual circuit?#

A Virtual Circuit is a common name for creating a link between two ports or other networking objects.

What cloud providers are available?#

Current Cloud Service Providers (CSP) available on ServiceFabric® are:

  • Amazon AWS
  • Microsoft Azure
  • Google Cloud
  • IBM Cloud
  • Oracle cloud

A Link within ServiceFabric is a Layer2 connection over a VLAN between an A-Side and Z-Side Port/PortGroup. These may also be known as Virtual Cross Connects (VXC).

What is a connection?#

A Connection within ServiceFabric is a Layer 3 connection between 2 virtual routers.

How do I edit the speed of an existing connection?#
